The odd situation sometimes arose where someone with a comparable income could get a mortgage if their retirement date was still 11 years away.
A mortgage with NHG for seniors
In mid-June 2018, the National Mortgage Guarantee (NHG) introduced a new assessment method. This method takes into account the financial situation after retirement in a more realistic manner. With an NHG, seniors can now take out a larger mortgage to find suitable housing. The fact that seniors can also become active in the housing market will likely lead to a better flow of new homes. Experts expect that this will, in particular, make more spacious homes available for families.
