Make your home more sustainable with a National Heat Fund loan

In an era where sustainability is paramount, many homeowners face the challenge of transforming their homes into energy-efficient havens without breaking the bank. Enter the National Heat Fund, an innovative initiative offering interest-free loans to Dutch households with modest incomes, enabling them to afford essential upgrades that not only enhance home value and comfort but also contribute to a more sustainable future.

Making your home more sustainable is crucial these days. Naturally, sustainability reduces energy consumption, lowering your energy bill. It also increases living comfort and improves the home's energy rating . This increases the property's value. While there are many other compelling reasons to make your home more sustainable, not everyone has the financial means to do so. Those on a tight budget can now apply for a National Heat Fund loan. Would you like to apply for an energy label? You're welcome to contact Homekeur.

What is the National Heat Fund?

The Dutch government commissioned the establishment of the National Heat Fund in 2013. This initiative has been around for some time, but not everyone is aware of it. The fund is financed by various lenders, including several Dutch banks. The goal of the National Heat Fund is to make it affordable for everyone, including those on a smaller budget, to make their homes more sustainable. This means that loans for sustainability projects are provided from the fund, with no interest charged.

Who can use this loan?

Since November 1, 2022, the interest-free loan from the National Heat Fund has been available to Dutch households with a combined annual income of up to €45,014. This loan may only be used to implement measures to make your home more sustainable. This so-called "energy-saving loan" is taken out for a fixed term. During the term, no interest is charged on the loan amount, even if certain developments occur on the capital market. By providing this interest-free loan, more people can make their homes more sustainable. This reduces energy costs and helps the entire country accelerate the process of making their homes more sustainable.

The arrangement will not remain in force indefinitely

Anyone wishing to use the interest-free loan from the National Heat Fund must decide in time. The duration of this program hasn't yet been determined. For now, the interest-free loan is available for two years. After that, it will be determined whether it's useful and beneficial to maintain the option or discontinue it. If you fall into this target group and want to make your home more sustainable, now is the time to take out this interest-free loan.

New energy label after making the home more sustainable

Making a home more sustainable results in a more positive energy rating. This has several advantages. The home not only increases in value but also sells faster than homes with a negative energy rating. Have you implemented energy-saving measures and want a new energy rating? Then you can request a definitive energy rating from Homekeur. Of course, you can always contact us if you need more information or advice. We're happy to help.
