Can you replace the fuse box yourself?

Replacing a fuse box might seem like a feasible DIY project, but the complexities and safety concerns involved make it a task best left to certified professionals. Understanding the importance of hiring a qualified installer and ensuring compliance with current safety standards can protect your home and provide peace of mind.

Replacing the fuse box in your new home is a major undertaking. It's a job that requires expertise. After all, the fuse box is the central point in your home where electricity enters and is distributed. No mistakes are allowed. Are you allowed to replace a fuse box yourself? Yes, you can, but it's much safer to have it done by a certified installer.

Choose a Certified Installer

Since 2007, it's been especially important to be vigilant when looking for the right installer. If a seal needs to be broken during installation, only the Certified Installer can do so.

Applicable safety requirements

If you plan to cook electrically (in the future), don't forget to connect the necessary cooking circuit or any other power circuit. Electric cooking requires a particularly high wattage. Regular circuits can't handle such a high wattage. Also want to safely power your garden lighting? Then install a residual current circuit breaker (RCBO) in the fuse box.
