Energy label C mandatory for offices

In an era where sustainability is paramount, both individuals and businesses face the challenge of meeting energy efficiency standards, such as ensuring office buildings achieve at least an energy label C. Failure to comply can result in substantial fines, but understanding the process, exceptions, and steps to secure the necessary certification can help businesses avoid penalties and contribute to a greener future.

With increasing climate problems, both individuals and businesses are also being required to meet sustainability requirements. One of these requirements is that offices must meet at least an energy label C. This article explains the consequences of an office building not achieving an energy label C , who exactly needs to meet the requirements, and how to apply for an energy label C for offices .

An office building without energy label C ?

If an office doesn't have at least an energy label C , the building owner risks a fine of up to €20,000. A hefty fine you'd rather avoid! Fortunately, applying for an energy label is easy with Homekeur. Arrange it here in just a few minutes! Want to be sure your office needs an energy label C ? Here are the exceptions:

  • The office is smaller than 100 m2
  • Less than 50% of the surface area is used as an office (note that the rest of the building does not fall into a group that also requires energy label C, otherwise this exception will no longer apply)
  • The building will be demolished or renovated within two years (these must be final plans)
  • Monuments are also seen as an exception.

Office does not meet energy label C

An energy label inspection has been performed on the office building, and it has been determined that the building is not yet worthy of a C energy label. What now? If the inspection is completed and the building does not meet the requirements for a C energy label, the advisor can provide recommendations on how to achieve this. The cost estimate will also be provided, so you know the investment required to achieve a C energy label for offices .
