When is an energy label for new construction mandatory?
An energy label for new construction is mandatory upon completion, sale, or rental of a home. Without an energy label, you are not officially permitted to occupy or transfer the property. The label must be prepared according to the EP-W/D detailed methodology, which has been mandatory since January 1, 2021.
What is the difference between an energy label for existing buildings and new buildings?
For existing homes, a basic survey (EP-W/B) is often sufficient. For new construction, a detailed survey (EP-W/D) is always required. This means that all components of the home are carefully examined and entered into the software, such as Rc values, insulation, glass, installations, and ventilation. The energy label for new construction therefore provides a more precise picture of the home's energy performance.
How does the inspection for an energy label for new construction proceed?
After you submit your request, we'll schedule an appointment. Our certified advisor will visit your location for a detailed inspection. The inspection takes approximately two hours. This includes checking insulation values, installations, building components, and ventilation. You'll receive the energy label within three business days of the inspection.
How long is an energy label valid?
An energy label is valid for 10 years , even for newly built homes. If it expires, you must have a new label issued, for example, for a subsequent sale or rental.
