Inspection of bathroom with high moisture content video

Discover the critical role of building inspections in uncovering hidden issues that could impact your new home investment. Learn how expert insights from Homekeur can provide peace of mind by identifying potential problems, like excessive moisture behind bathroom tiles, before they become costly repairs.

Trespa cladding is popular: sleek, low-maintenance, and durable. Yet, Homekeur frequently encounters problems with Trespa panels during inspections. This isn't due to the material itself, but rather to improper installation. This can lead to moisture problems, deformation, and damage to the facade.

In this video we explain where things often go wrong and how Trespa is installed correctly.

Why does trespa installation so often go wrong?

Trespa is a compact laminate that reacts strongly to temperature fluctuations. The panels expand and contract. If this is not taken into account during installation, problems such as:

  • Bulging or cracking plates
  • Loose fasteners
  • Moisture accumulation behind the facade
  • Damage to underlying structures

Many errors arise because Trespa is treated as if it were “just a panel” — while it requires a specific mounting system.

The biggest assembly errors in a row

❌ No or insufficient ventilation

Trespa should never be mounted directly against the facade . Without a ventilation cavity, moisture cannot escape, and condensation remains trapped behind the panels.

❌ Incorrect mounting points

Plates that are screwed down everywhere can't move. This creates tension and ultimately cracks or warps.

❌ Not taking deportation into account

Trespa expands with heat. Installing it too tightly means long-term damage.

❌ Incorrect substructure

A poor or unlevel substructure will cause tension in the panel and a messy end result.

This is how you attach Trespa correctly

✅ Ensure a ventilated cavity

There should always be a ventilation cavity behind Trespa, so that moisture can be removed and the facade can “breathe”.

✅ Work with fixed and sliding mounting points

  • One fixed point per plate
  • Other fixings are sliding, so the plate can work

This prevents tension in the material.

✅ Maintain expansion space

Drill holes should be wider than the screw so the plate can move without getting stuck.

✅ Use the correct mounting materials

Stainless steel, correct spacers and fasteners that match Trespa — no standard screws “off the shelf”.
